The Basics of Cleaning

It’s no surprise that people like their homes to be neat and tidy. Even animals like to keep the places they live clean. But, for some of us, the task of cleaning may not come as easily as it may seem.

The biggest question that the most hopeful cleaning enthusiast wants to know is; where do you start? The job of cleaning can be overwhelming at first glance. It can sometimes make people want to stop before they start. Before you get out the rags other essential cleaning supplies, start by making sure that everything is in its place. By tidying up first, you can avoid constantly starting and stopping vacuuming to pick up tidbits off of the floor or constantly putting the furniture polish down to remove the old magazines from the coffee table. This part of the cleaning is the most strenuous. In addition to making your cleaning time more organized and structured, by tidying the room first you are using your energy to complete the hardest part first rather then running out of steam halfway through the cleaning job.

Something else that will make your cleaning organized is to gather you cleaning products that you will use to clean the room before you start cleaning. You may want to get a light bin that you can use to place all of your cleaning products in so it is easier to carry them around with you as you move from place to place and room to room. A few cleaning products that you will want to include in your bin is window cleaner, furniture polish, rags, antibacterial spray, and carpet cleaner and re-freshener. You can also carry around a small garbage bag around with you instead of running back and forth from the garbage can. Also, use the right cleaning supplies that will get the job done. It is a waste of time trying to clean a dirty spot with an inferior product. You will spend too much for your time re-cleaning the thing that did not get properly clean the first time.

When the tidying up is done, start from the top of the room and move your way down towards the floor. Getting the cobwebs out of the corners of the ceiling and dusting the top selves first, eliminates the possibility of getting the floor dirty again by falling dust. Also clean one room at a time. You will feel a better feeling of accomplishment and will save time and energy in the long run.

Cleaning your home is beneficial for more then just the simple fact that it is pleasing to the eye. When you walk into someone’s home it is the first thing that you notice; weather or not the house is clean or not. And it’s the first thing other people notice about your home. Plus, a dirt home is more likely to cause illness to those who live in it. Wherever there is dirt and moister, there is bacteria. By keeping the surfaces that are most likely to support bacteria clean, you are able to give family members a greater chance at staying healthy.
